After I attended a function at the Atrium Lobby, I wanted to visit Marina Square Mall. On previous visits, one could use doors that connect to the mall from within the hotel, on one of the floors above the lobby. I asked a front desk staff (in pink uniform) for directions and was told that this was no longer possible after renovations. She then brought me to the entrance of the hotel and pointed out the entrance/exit of the mall carpark and told me to walk through that ( presumably going in with cars or in the face of exiting cars) so as to enter the mall and to find the entrance to the mall from within the carpark! I did not follow her directions, but I would like to bring to the hotel's attention that this kind of "help" was given.

First time back since the renovation and the hotel and its staff did not disappoint. The structure of the hotel is the same and some new names for the main restaurant Embu instead if Melt. Pool and gym are still the same and great. Little things like a sports drink handed to you by the doormen on your return from a morning run are great. I like the new cafe in the lobby. The food selection at breakfast is superb and I hosted some friends in embu for the Sunday brunch and it was fantastic. The waitress at embu remembered me from previous visits and looked after me and my guests superbly! Highly recommend for holiday or business!

World best hotel version 2.0 - Home version 2.0 (post renovation - now new and improved – unbelievable that it could get any better, but it could) - But still Home and not word sum it up better – if you read no further just know that if you come here, you will get an out of this world experience. Home – first for my wife and I then later also for family of four (our boys of 12Y and 14Y). My wife and I have been coming home to Mandarin Oriental Singapore (MOSIN) for 21 years +. We have stayed at Mandarin oriental Bangkok and KL, Peninsula Bangkok, Intercontinental hotels, Shangri la´s and other great hotels around the world but MOSIN is the best. What do we come back for – the experience: The staff, the hotel, the restaurants, the 25 meter lap pool, the views - and did I mention the staff - it is all fantastic!. We started coming in 2003 while we were still medical students splurging on our final night(s) after back-packing around in Asia and downunder – already back then the staff was fantastic even with our back-packs, hiking boots and all – here you the guest - are in focus in a considerate attentive way that makes you relax and at home with the perfect host - the staff are genuine attentive in the contact with the guest – no matter if you are on business travel, a couple or a family with small or big kids this is the same. We now have 26 stays at MOSIN are going for 50 (and then 100 stays) From the start It was such generous an atmosphere and it have only gotten better since. – we are now back after the 2023 renovation shutdown and in January 2024 – Renovation… Let’s be honest we were worried – why mess with perfection – we discussed what to say (As compliments) if we did not like it… – we were however luckily pleasantly surprised and did not have to embellish. The rooms and suites – the rooms have undergone a thoughtful updating – brighter colors more space – the big sideboard and cabinets with the TVs were gone and the floor area more open for a much more spacious feel – and the (65´) TVs are integrated in the walls (can be adjusted on arms for optimal viewing angel) -either dining table or the sofa area (or bed). The toilets are now as we know them from 5 stars hotels in Japan – not a must for us but heated seatings are nice and fun – do mind what buttons you press - 😉 and bathroom overall lighter – in some suites you now get a washer/dryer plus small kitchen looking really nice for longer stays or smaller kids with more washing. – do note the very good shopping mall 10 meters away with a food court if you want to eat fast and easy outside the hotel. As for future bookings we asked to be shown the other rooms - (we stay on the city side most of the time as we are a family) - bathrooms of the harbor and sea view rooms and suites have really have an exceptional lift – and once again all things updated respectfully – my wife really want to try the new harbor view suite for us in the future due to space and design of the bathroom (and the views to die for)– we see what happens. As for the rest of the hotel it is all brighter and more accommodating from the lobby to the top floor! The food and restaurants post renovation is just as good as before to mention our two favorites: Melts café still with the standard other buffet restaurants can only dream to achieve –– Embu is it called now – It is as good as ever but brighter and softer looks and a feeling of more privacy- (Embu is we have been told 😉after Tembusu, one of Singapore's heritage trees and they have taken the garden feeling inside the restaurant in the selection of the décor and furniture – with AC! – Go there for the staff, that remember the drink orders at breakfast from previous and the buffets they have them all: breakfast, lunch (with sushi and more now pizza also) and dinner – the dinner with lobster buffet bonanza and the best Laska ever– all four of us agree), - do note you can not do all three buffets in one day – you will have no space for all that food. The Dolce Vita restaurant still the best Italian food - when the adults go for a wonderful set menu – this year with the best Tiramisu tasted ever(and we do love Tiramisu) after another 3 fantastic courses with new Italian tastes – we live in Denmark and have been to Italian Michelin restaurants in Rome - we would still choose Dolce Vita for both staff, taste and whole dining experience - no you do not get the self-important smug “the menu” (movie) feel at Dolce Vita – you get genuine attention to you and a fantastic meal. (and the kids get super pizzas while we enjoy the set menu) The oriental club - our honeymoon (in the long long ago) was at MOSIN where we enjoyed a little club indulgence (oriental club floor) – in 2024 post renovation we were back - it is still very highly recommend in 2024 if you are not bringing (small) kids (under 12years) – the intimate atmosphere, the high tea and everything else there is even better than our pre-kids visit and the new décor is very enjoyable. Over the years we have recommended the hotel to friends (and bosses from our hospitals) all have come away from the experience with a new favorite hotel in the world This is only our second review and 25+ stays why? – it is hard to find time to write for fun with kids and the more egocentric reason on my/our part – “Mandarin oriental Singapore is My precious” and not to be shared – and with occupancy rates of in the 90%+ pre-covid during all our visits for more than 10 years why advertise further - we might not get a booking ourselves – but I as I teach my children to share then so must I. – The way the MOSIN staff manage set a tone so that it becomes a place for both our family and for the business lunch at the next table is unique and it is all done in a five star+ setting. So I say to you all “Go and be amazed” the best have gotten even better! PS. photos are from different stays as can be seen from the kids ages PPS A bit more kids MOSIN experience In 2009 our first son came, and he had to wait a full 6 month for his first MOSIN stay (he did go in the womb as well) – one of two stays in his first year. He is now 14½ years old and at 17 times at MOSIN - for our vacations he now have only one plea: “that is that we go home to MOSIN at least once a year” - He started a paper route, a year ago - not to eventually get a PlayStation 5, but to contribute and pay a part of an (extra) night at MOSIN (his idea) this year - this as he (sometimes) understands that MOM is not Made of Money nor DAD means Dollars All Dollars. His little brother of 12 years is on 14 stays and of same mind set – he is a swimmer doing daily pre-breakfast lap-sets in the 25 meter lap-pool at MOSIN now to stay in shape while his brother goes with his Mother to the fine 24 hour gym on site.

I stayed two nights on a work trip to Singapore. The hotel is really very nice and the service is excellent. A great bed and pillows (not always a given) and a fantastic view on the 12th floor. Breakfast was excellent and I also swam in the 25m pool, which was great.
